Joey Nations, a senior at Simi Valley High in California, won the boys invitational long jump with a leap of 22 feet (6.70m) on his third attempt, in addition to contributing to the victorious invitational 4x100-meter relay in 42.00 seconds at the Ventura County Championships at Moorpark High. Nations also took second in the invitational 100-meter dash in a wind-legal 10.97 seconds and placed third in the invitational 200 meters in a wind-legal 22.05.
